I was born in Izmir, Turkey, where I attended the German-Turkish Gymnasium school Bornova Anadolu Lisesi. In 2003 I obtained my Bachelor’s in Political Science and International Relations from the Yeditepe University in Istanbul, and I completed my “Cultural Heritage Management” Master’s programme at Koç University in 2007.
I lived in Tucson, Arizona, USA from 2007 to 2011 and earned my PhD in History at the University of Arizona. I have lived in Hamburg since 2011.
During my PhD programme I began utilising my language skills and accepting translation projects as a freelancer. I have since served a broad range of clients in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. You will find a selection of my clients under the References section.
I also worked as a salaried Turkish editor for the renowned advertising agency Scholz & Friends in Hamburg from 2012 to 2015.
I formed my own translation company, AHOI Translation, in 2015.
